Wildcats fall to 'very good' West Fork team

HECTOR — The Hector Wildcats fell to the West Fork Tigers 66-35 on Tuesday inside the Hector Multi-Purpose building.

Hector fell behind 20-8 after the first quarter and 35-22 at halftime. After the third quarter, the Wildcats were down 57-31.

“The boys played hard against a very good West Fork Team,” Wildcats head coach Ben Freeman said. “I saw good things throughout the game that we have gotten better at. We just have to keep getting better every day.”

Hector was led in scoring by Caleb Profitt with eight points. Ty Day scored seven points. Deaton Shipley scored four points, while Isaac Stanek, Blake George and Bobby Martin each scored three points.

West Fork was led in scoring by Brenon Burks with 19 points and Justin Bivens with 15 points.

Lady Wildcats fall 40-22

HECTOR — The Lady Wildcats were defeated 40-22 on Tuesday by the West Fork Lady Tigers inside the Hector Multi-Purpose Building.

After an 8-8 tie in the first quarter, West Fork went up 17-14. After the third quarter, Hector was down 28-20.

“I was really disappointed in our effort tonight,” Hector head coach Luke McAnulty said. “The girls have to play harder and regroup before Friday’s night conference opener.”

The Lady Wildcats were led in scoring by Courtney Barnett with 11 points. Evelyn Riley scored five points. Andrea Sears scored four points. Shelby Hendrix scored two points.

West Fork was led by Hannah Johnson with 11 points and Joei-Haase-Selvidge with eight points.

The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats travel to Coal Hill on Friday to face the Johnson County Westside Rebels and Lady Rebels. Games are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
