Hector Wildcats win over Mountainburg

MOUNTAINBURG -- The Hector Wildcats defeated the Mountainburg Dragons 54-45 on Tuesday inside Dragon Gymnasium.

"It was a good win on the road for us, even though we didn't bring our best stuff to the game," Wildcats head coach Ben Freeman said. "It was different guys stepping up in different roles to get us over the hump to come away with the win against a very good team on their home court."

Hector trailed 14-11 after the first quarter but tied the score 23-23 at halftime.

The Wildcats led 43-38 after the third quarter.

Caleb Profitt turned in 22 points during the win, followed by Isaac Stanek with 15 points. Aiden Turner scored 10 points, and Treys Smedley scored five points. Blake George scored two points.

The Wildcats improved to 10-9 overall and 8-2 in the 2A-4 Conference. They travel to Lavaca on Friday.

Mountainburg SG 48, Hector 27

MOUNTAINBURG -- The Hector Lady Wildcats fell 48-27 to the Mountainburg Lady Dragons.

Hector was held scoreless in the first quarter and trailed 26-5 by halftime. After the third quarter, the Lady Wildcats were down 43-17.

Hector's Faith Barnett scored nine points, followed by Avery Sweeney with seven points. Carson Lenhart scored four points, and Jess Ramer scored three points. Molly Haley and Shelby Hendrix scored two points each.

Mountainburg JB 42, Hector 26

MOUNTAINBURG -- The Hector Junior Wildcats fell 42-26 to the Mountainburg Junior Dragons.

In that game, Drake Riley scored 11 points, Landen Coffman scored eight points and P.J. Henderson scored two points. Jackson Taylor added a point.
