HECTOR -- The Hector Wildcats advanced to the 2A-4 West District Tournament finals with a 44-35 win over the Hackett Hornets on Thursday inside the Hector Multi-Purpose Building.

Hector led 11-8 after the first quarter and 21-17 at halftime. After the third quarter, the teams came to a 26-26 stalemate.

"Hats off to Hackett as they did a good job throwing us off our game," Wildcats head coach Ben Freeman said. "We survived to face a really good Lavaca team in the finals. I am proud of this team for battling through a tough night and finding a way to win."

Hector was led in scoring by Isaac Stanek with 16 points. Treys Smedley scored 14 points. Caleb Profitt scored 10 points, while Luke Brown and Deatan Shipley scored two points each.

The Wildcats played Lavaca in the finals on Friday. Look for results in a future edition of The Courier.
