DANVILLE — The Hector Lady Wildcats qualified for the Class 2A State Tournament with a 46-31 win over the Flippin Lady Wildcats on Thursday in the first round of the 2A-West regional tournament.
“I couldn’t be more proud of our girls as they battled super hard and came out on top tonight,” Hector head coach Luke McAnulty said.
“At this point in post-season play, the name of the game is survive and advance, and the girls did just that. I’m so proud of everyone who contributed on both ends of the court as this was a huge win for our program.”
The Lady Wildcats led 11-6 after the first quarter and 24-19 at halftime. Hector led 34-24 after the third quarter.
Evelyn Riley led everyone with 17 points, followed by Courtney Barnett with 10 points. Alyssa Gililland scored eight points, and Molly Haley scored six points.
Andrea Sears scored three points, and Faith Barnett scored two points.
Flippin led Flippin in scoring with 14 points.
The Lady Wildcats played Lavaca in the second round of the tournament on Friday.
